Walk in Chicken Runs, 4m Span

Our 4 metre span  chicken runs are available in a choice of 3 sizes. The smallest run covers an area of 16 square metres, with the mid size being 24 square metres. The largest has a floor area of 32 square metres.

To prevent corrosion, all of our walk-in runs use 38mm galvanised steel tubes for the frame with galvanised hinges and bolts. We protect the door and frame by using tanalised timber.

Chicken Run Assembly

Your run will be delivered in several packages for self assembly. You will receive boxes of long poles (up to 2.2m), a box of brackets and all fixings, a timber door kit and some rolls of wire mesh. We guide you through the build with a very detailed set of instructions.

You can always contact the manufacturer on Freephone number 0800 832 1962, if you have any issues or questions regarding the installation of your new chicken run. This is a UK based manufacturer who are very easy to deal with and happy to help.

Tools Required

To complete the assembly you will require cross head screwdrivers, measuring tape, wire cutters, step ladder & hammer.

How much run space do chickens require?

How much space chickens require to thrive is a very subjective topic. Indeed a google search will provide many varied answers. However there is no doubt that the larger the space the better.

As a guide, under UK regulations an area of 4 square metres per bird is the minimum to be considered free range.

You will notice that a lot of the online opinion suggests between 1 and 2 square metres per bird but from our experience 2 square metres is probably a minimum. The simple truth is that chickens with more space are less likely to be cornered. They are therefore less likely to quarrel, bully and feather peck.
